Science for CommUNITY

This past Friday, Dr. Osman & Clara Medina’s work in collaboration with the Sacramento Coalition to End Homelessness was presented at the 2nd Annual Science for Communities Workshop in Stockton, CA. This event was organized by the Delta Stewardship Council to pair community based organizations with members of academia and CA government agencies to support local efforts in environmental protection, environmental justice, and community advocacy. Our group helped produce this StoryMap highlighting vulnerable Legacy Communities in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta that are at high risk of needing emergency housing in the event of a flood. This work is intended to support emergency response efforts for flooding before disasters occur to increase proactive planning.
