Trust the Tap: Water Filter Distribution with Nuestra Casa in East Palo Alto

In collaboration with Nuestra Casa’s efforts to improve East Palo Alto residents’ access to clean, safe tap water they can trust, PhD student Clara Medina has been working to improve the user experience of water filter usage. For the past few months, Clara has developed a set of bilingual, educational resources on water science and the process behind water filtration, along with hosting a workshop for NC’s Environmental Justice Academy to increase community knowledge on water issues, water testing, and who to contact if there are concerns about their tap water. This past week, Nuestra Casa was able to distribute the first batch of LifeStraw water pitchers to community members who were interested and are working to distribute more throughout the summer.
